I can hear you, you know… You’re asking yourself “How the hell does a male become a romance author?” Well, here’s the answer…

I first started writing when I was a kid. I took the characters I loved from books and TV shows and put them in my own impossible situations. When I got a little older, my interest in girls spilled over to my stories, and suddenly, my main characters not only saved the day, they got the girl.

Fast forward a few years… As I saw the darker sides of life, my writing turned dark as well. I discovered I had a lot of twisted, gory, terrifying stories just sitting in the corners of my brain waiting to get out. A lot of the horror fiction I read had both male and female protagonists. Sometimes a romantic relationship between the two was hinted at, but almost never developed. In the stories I wrote, the couple triumphed over evil, but they also had their Happily Ever After.

Fast forward some more years… A friend of mine, a freelance writer, decided to give fiction writing a whirl, and he convinced me to edit his first book, an erotic romance. I was sick of my job, so it was pretty easy to talk me into writing as well. The two of us went on to co-author several books, but the partnership dissolved, and I removed my name from those books. Still, I was hooked, so I went on to launch a solo writing career. Since then, I’ve become an International Bestselling Author, which just blows me away.

So why do I write romance?

Well, everything I write turns into a story about a relationship, no matter what I originally intended. I finally decided not to fight it. Life revolves around the relationships we build, and most adults, no matter their situation in life, long to find love and romance. Since my characters are as real as I can possibly make them, it’s natural for them to find their perfect match. Whatever my stories end up being, I’m pretty sure there will always be a relationship at the center.

Speaking of keeping characters real…

I share a few qualities, and experiences, with some of my characters, which means I’ve caused my share of trouble, and then some. Other characters are sometimes loosely based on people I’ve known. I’m also a people watcher, when I get a chance. Any stranger going by me is fair game. I’ll ask myself tons of questions about the person and what brought them to that place. This little habit gives me an endless supply of heroes, villains, and supporting characters.

My Hunted Love series blends Western/Cowboy romance and MC Romance. All three books are currently available.

The Hell Raiders MC series begins with Kellen’s Redemption, and the series is complete with 6 books. Books 1 through 6 are available on Amazon. For those of you who love the Raiders, don’t worry, the boys are still around. They’ll just come to you in a different format 😉

My Unwanted Soldiers series follows a loosely organized group of mercenaries. Books 1 and 2 are now available on Amazon.

And now for the good stuff…

My wife and I met a little over 3 years ago, and I knew immediately she was The One… I just had to convince her, lol. Elyse and I were married in 2014, and we couldn’t be happier. We live on a little farm in the middle of nowhere – the nearest ‘city’ actually has ONE traffic light!

She’s the center of my universe, so the more time alone together, the better. We’re outdoors as much as possible, and love camping and hiking. No human kids, but we have a few furkids – Joe the horse, Haley the goofy hound, Peaches the badass chihuahua, and Momma Cat the boss. We’re also surrounded by a large, close extended family, and some really great friends.

On a more serious note…

Countless times over the last few years, I’ve been asked if I’m really a man. People ask because I don’t show photos of myself anywhere, or of my wife or other family members. I have several reasons for this, but first and foremost, is family. No one in my real life, other than my wife and my mother, and my close friend Tape, know I what I write. Only a few other people even know I write at all.

My family and friends all have lives, and we live in an extremely conservative area. If my mother’s church friends knew what I write, she would be ostracized. My wife would lose her job. The old guy who runs the feed store would be coincidentally out of any sort of horse feed when I needed some for Joe.

You might think I’m paranoid and over-reacting. The truth is, I am paranoid, but I’m not over-reacting in this situation. I’ve seen it happen countless times here. Someone chooses to do something not socially acceptable in this narrow little community, and everyone close to them pays the consequences. I refuse to put my own family and friends through this.

So, I don’t do photos. I don’t do videos or audio. I don’t do events and signings.

While I keep a big chunk of my life private, the man you see on Facebook, or on this website, or in my books, is the real me. I’m unorthodox. I’m an unapologetic redneck country boy. I have an insatiable curiosity about more subjects than I can name. My faith in God and family have led me this far in life, and I’m not about to turn away from those. I’m extremely conservative in some areas, and perhaps overly liberal in others. All in all, I’m just me, like it or leave it.

I hope you’ll enjoy getting to know me through my books.
