Currently living in the lovely historic literary town of Hillsborough, NC as well as being a native to the area, self-published author Ruby J. Black spends her days pursuing two degrees at Southern New Hampshire University while homeschooling her seventeen-year-old son and writing in her spare time. Her two grown daughters have each blessed her with a granddaughter who has their grandmother wrapped around their fingers. Before age sixteen she had a short story published in her school anthology. Throughout her academic youth, Black received multiple awards for her compositions. After the tragic destruction of her first novel-length manuscript, Black put her first love aside. However, shy of a decade later another tragedy returned her to her true nature as a scribe. First published electronically by a small startup company in 1998, she published five collections of poetry. The contract ended and Black after conducting months of research chose the avenue of self-publishing her own work. Black has written a total of seven collections of poetry of which are currently being formatted for publication both electronically and print. Driven by her passion, she finds escape in the lives she creates for the characters with giving them the well-rounded sense of existing.
