J.J. Dutra is a retired Registered Nurse and has written Federally funded grants, short stories, poetry, magazine and newspaper articles as well as three self-published books. She has lived in North Truro, on Cape Cod for forty years and has worked, fished, and sailed with her late husband on a variety of boats. Ms Dutra enjoys gardening, walking with her dog on the beach, reading and writing.
Her books include a memoir, Nautical Twilight the Story of a Cape Cod Fishing Family, and two historic mystery novels: The Fishermen's Ball, and Dead Low Tide. Her latest mystery novel, The Crow is due for publication in April 2023.
Ms. Dutra has been a guest speaker at numerous venues including the Cape Cod Natural History Museum, Truro Public Library, the Provincetown Schooner Regatta Opening Event, the Provincetown Portuguese Festival, COA luncheons, book clubs and private parties.
