Dick Brownson

I am a native of the English West Country and have had a varied working life but spent most of my years in the entertainment business and boxing. I had written for magazines about the Old American West and Boxing but my first full-length book was 'WILD BILL LONGLEY-TEXAS GUNSLINGER'...the biography of a Texas outlaw. This involved over 30 years of research and two visits to his stamping grounds in Texas and surrounding states. I then wrote three novels based roughly on my experiences of boxing in the 1950s and the boxers and characters that were connected with the 'sport' in those far-off days. 'A DISTANT FRIENDLY PARTY', 'BATTLE FOR THE BELT' and now 'COME BACK PADDY REILLY' 2021 are definitely ADULT READING.

They were written in a few months and acted as a relief valve for the frustrations and setbacks associated with the arduous research for 'THE STORY OF NORTH BOXING' Volume..1, my major non-fiction work which is on sale NOW.

VOLUME 2 is ON SALE NOW in 3 PARTS as the total page count is around 1200...with over 3000 photos./newspaper cuttings/boxing show reports/posters...a MASSIVE SCRAPBOOK ! This takes THE STORY OF NORTH DEVON BOXING to 2017.

I live in North Devon with my ginger cat, Muffin. I list my hobbies as watching silent films, mostly Westerns, supporting North Devon boxing, and walking on Exmoor.
