Page Nelson

Page Nelson is the author of four chapbooks of poetry and eight volumes of "literary mixed-media" that comprise verse, aphorisms, critical essays, and fiction. He won the Digby Dogbolt Prize for Poetry in 2014 and was a 2011 MacIntyre-McArthur Fellow at the Stevens House (Hartford, Conn.) In 2010, he was appointed Proctor In Aesthetics at New Courier College (New Courier, Massachusetts), a position he held concurrently with that of Technical and Reference Librarian at Harvard's Graduate School of Design until his retirement from both institutions in 2016. He now lives in his hometown of Charlottesville Va. with his wife, Laurie Kim (M.D.) and their five cats: Ying, Yang, Sylvia, Scoop and Nietzsche. His critical correspondence frequently appears in the "Letters" section of the London Review of Books, The Times Literary Supplement, The Economist and other important periodicals. [An exhibition of his miniature paintings, including "Self Portrait, Österreichisches" (above, 4 x 5 inches), was held at Gallery 625 in Cambridge Massachusetts, Feb. 2013.] His poetry and critical essays have appeared in Blue Lantern, Fiddler Crab, Writer's Eye, Antiphon, Paper Nautilus, Rat's Sass, Pamplemousse, Cobalt, Naugatuck River Review, Flounder, Plate, and other journals. He edited and co-translated, with the author, Anon Nemosky's collected essays: Kompletni Poleni ("Complete Clearances", 2023) and Castice a Vlna ("Particles and Wave", 2024), and edited Nemosky's first book in English, "Dispositions", 2025, all published by The Cat's Paw Press. Nelson's polemical collaboration with Leo Gornik, "You Say What?", came out in 2025 (Carrsbrook Press.). "Osip Mandelstam: selected poetry", a collaborative translation with Leo Gornik as director, debuted in 2026 (Carrsbrook Press), correcting many errors in prior translations and introducing a few of its own.
