Chris Cheng

Chris Cheng is the author of Proven in Blood: A Novel of War, Betrayal and Belonging, a historical novel about the Japanese American soldiers of the 100th Infantry Battalion and 442nd Regimental Combat Team.

The book began in 2020. As anti-Asian hate crimes rose across the country, Cheng was preparing to perform with World War II firearms on Snoop Dogg's Go-Big Show. His research led him to the Nisei soldiers who fought for the United States while their families were held in incarceration camps at home, a history he had never learned in school. He spent the next six years writing their story.

Cheng won Season 4 of History Channel's Top Shot in 2012, earning a professional marksman contract with Bass Pro Shops. Before that, he spent five years at Google, where he worked in Google Apps technical support and later as a product lead for Google for Nonprofits. He also taught interpersonal communication and leadership on the GoogleEDU faculty.

He is an NRA-certified firearms instructor and the author of Shoot to Win, a guide to marksmanship fundamentals. He lives in San Francisco and is narrating the audiobook edition of Proven in Blood himself.
