Lee Thornton was born and raised in Europe and grew up living and traveling around the world. After graduating from George Washington University, she pursued an education in fine art at several academic institutions, including Maryland College of Art and Design and Rhode Island School of Design. After pursuing a career as a professional editor, she became a published songwriter for the television industry as well as a professional artist selling her works in various galleries. She later received a certificate in healing with expressive arts, which she uses with individuals and groups in a variety of venues for promoting emotional, psychological and physical well being.
In 1973, Lee had a near-death experience (NDE) and submitted an account of that experience to the International Association for Near Death Studies (IANDS). After becoming a member of IANDS, she wrote her first book, Through Heaven’s Gate and Back, an autobiographical account of her NDE and its transformational effects on her life.
Her time is now divided between painting and using expressive art therapy with mental health patients in her local hospital. She is devoted to sharing her spiritual journey of healing with others to help them on their own healing path by connecting with the Light within them.
