Nicole Moore was born in London of Guyanese and English heritage. Her writing lives in both print and digital spaces — magazines, blogs, poetry anthologies — and includes creative nonfiction, art reviews, interviews, and spoken word poetry. Between 2005 and 2010, Nicole curated three anthologies of poems and personal essays by black and mixed-heritage women, two of which were funded by a Grants for the Arts award from Arts Council England. Nicole is also a published poet with over 20 years' experience in literary arts events, providing and performing at numerous book readings and poetry evenings in theatres, libraries, literary festivals, small publishers' fairs, and mainstream and community bookshops, with guest appearances on mainstream and community radio. Between 2006 and 2008, Nicole promoted and hosted a vibrant monthly Shangwe Poetry Night at the Poetry Cafe, Covent Garden, London, featuring over 50 artists and over 30 open-mic performers, thereby developing and representing nationally and internationally diverse performers and encouraging and cultivating interactive audiences.
