J.S. West is a stay-at-home wife and mother of two from Vermont. She spends a lot of time in the kitchen, creating delicious recipes and tweaking old favorites to make them healthier for herself and her whole family. When she isn’t cooking, she enjoys arts and crafts, such as crochet and scrapbooking.

Whenever possible, she purchases fresh, local, organic ingredients from farmers and gardeners in Vermont. She also highly recommends all of her readers to buy locally whenever possible! Local ingredients can make an amazing difference in any recipe—not just in taste, but in nutritional value as well. If you can’t buy locally, that’s okay, but try giving it a chance if you can!

Mrs. West prefers to follow a paleo style diet, which keeps her low-carb and healthy. She also chooses to optimize that diet by keeping it both grain-free and gluten-free. Additionally, she enjoys exploring other healthy diet options, and has tried vegan cooking, dairy-free recipes, and smoothie cleanses.

Of course, eating healthy and cooking delicious meals doesn’t have to cost a fortune, and Mrs. West understands that! She enjoys sharing her favorite recipes with everyone, and so she strives to keep them as cost-effective as possible. She also knows how difficult it can be for those who are just starting out learning how to cook, or those who are new to a specific type of diet. That’s why she makes all of her recipes simple and beginner-friendly. Cooking on a budget and learning a new diet have never been so easy!
