Mark Brewer

A native of Connecticut now living in Pittsburgh, Mark Brewer saw his characters first printed each week in his hometown shoreline newspaper at the age of fifteen. Before finding his whimsically steeped illustration style, Mark worked on some of the most notable syndicated comic strips printed today. His influences have included Ronald Searle, Shel Silverstein, Jim Henson, Ralph Steadman, and George Booth to name a few.

Mark's expressive and humorous drawings have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Wine & Spirits magazine, Major League Baseball, Yankee magazine, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and in his hometown publication, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review to name a few. Mark's focused perseverance and wellspring of creativity has parked his drawings on the cover of Newsweek, The American Conservative, Weekly Reader, Politics magazine, Strategic Finance magazine, and Golfstyles magazine among others.

In 2002, the National Cartoonists Society honored Mark Brewer with a Best Magazine Illustration Award at the Reuben Awards in Cancun, Mexico. He received this award from Mad Magazine's own award winning cartoonist, Sergio Aragones. In 2008 the Society of Professional Journalists honored Mark for his original magazine illustrations in San Diego Magazine. Mark Brewer is the past President of the Pittsburgh Society Of Illustrators (2009-2012). His whimsical illustrations continue to entice art directors, designers and publishers who engage him with exciting new assignments.

Mark's original works and prints are in private collections and have raised thousands of dollars for numerous charities.
