Arnab Jan Deka

Arnab Jan Deka is a well known writer of both English and Assamese. He authored 141 books including several novels, short fictions, essays, biographies, radio-plays and poetry. He is the youngest writer to be recognised by the Indian apex Literary body - Sahitya Academy with an inclusion of biography in Who's Who of Indian Writers in 1999 End Century Edition. Winner of Katha-Goriyoshi literary Award in 2003 at Katha International Short Story Festival for his short fiction 'Himalayan Mystic Meeting' and Assam Government Publication Board Award in 2006 for a novel on the life of his illustrious father titled 'Bhaba Ananda Sangbad' (Tales of Bhabananda), his novel against child-slavery and advocating child right to education titled 'Childhood Dreams' has been adapted into a major TV-series 'Soisobote Dhemalite' directed by famous Indian movie star Brojen Borah. He has also branched into film and TV acting, appearing in several features and television series in major roles, as well as directing documentary films which have been screened in the USA, Canada and other countries. Professional credits include River Engineering, Eco-technology Management, Legal Consultancy and Social Entrepreneurship.
