Stephan Neff

Dr Stephan Neff is a New Zealand medical doctor, author and educator practising functional and integrative medicine.

He spent much of his medical career working as a specialist anaesthetist, with additional experience in pain medicine, perioperative care and hyperbaric medicine. His clinical interests now include metabolic health, environmental medicine, healthy ageing, complex chronic disease, holistic oncology and integrative cancer care.

Stephan's writing has followed his own journey through medicine and life. His earlier books explored mental health, addiction, recovery and personal transformation, drawing openly on his own experiences as both doctor and patient.

His current writing is increasingly focused on medicine, health and the biology of disease. He has a particular interest in taking complicated medical science and making it understandable to people who do not have a medical degree.

His current book project, Think Like a Cancer Cell, explores cancer by asking a deceptively simple question: if you were a cancer cell, what would you need to do to survive?
