R. Shane Ritter

Dr. Shane Ritter was born in Memphis, Tennessee and at age 8 moved to Clinton, Mississippi where he lived until completing high school. Dr. Ritter received his AA in General Engineering from Hinds Community College in the fall of 1988 where he was named “Engineering Student of the Year” for that same year. Dr. Ritter received his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University in the fall of 1990 with concentrations in power, communications, and computers. Dr. Ritter received his Master of Science in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University in the spring of 1997 with a concentration in communication theory, where he served as a graduate teaching assistant. Dr. Ritter became a registered/licensed professional engineer (PE) in 1998 and is currently licensed in over 40 states. Dr. Ritter became a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (BICSI RCDD) in 2003. He also became a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (USGBC LEED AP®) in 2004 and WELL AP accredited in 2020. Dr. Ritter also became lighting certified (NCQLP LC) in 2005. Dr. Ritter served as an adjunct faculty member in mathematics, statistics, and research for the University of Phoenix from 2001-2009 and also served as an adjunct faculty member in electrical and electronics engineering for the ITT Technical Institute in 2010. He also was the Dean of Engineering and full professor of Engineering at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL from 2014-2017. He is currently the Electrical and Communications Engineering Discipline Leader for the Critical Building Infrastructures group at Tetra Tech.
