Anthony Cody

Anthony Cody (1958 - present) was born in Berkeley, California, to parents who founded Cody's Books. He has three sisters. After attending public schools there, he graduated from UC Berkeley in 1986, and got his teaching credential there in 1987. He taught science and math at Bret Harte Middle School in Oakland for the next 18 years, and then worked another six years in the Oakland schools as a science mentor and coach of teachers. He was one of Oakland's first National Board certified teachers. He began writing his blog, Living in Dialogue, at Education Week in 2008, and recently made it into an independent publication at www.livingindialogue.com. He helped organize the 2011 Save Our Schools march in Washington, DC, and is a co-founder of the Network for Public Education. He has two sons, and lives in the small Northern California town of Willits.
