Bo Rush

Bo Rush is a midwesterner who attended the University of Iowa, then embarked on a lengthy career in education in California and Colorado. For over a decade, he taught at public schools in the underserved south-central Los Angeles community. Currently, Bo teaches Language Arts at the elementary school level in Colorado. He also offers summer writing camps for young authors.

As a boy, Bo loved to read sports stories. In fact, he refused to read anything else. That singular passion resulted in proficient reading skills -- skills that transferred to other genres when Bo was in high school and college.

Every year as a teacher, Bo sees students who avoid reading. They start and quickly abandon books others are reading because of the level of difficulty or unappealing subject matter. That's why Bo wrote OKLAHOMA SHAKE, SOCCER BUGS, BOBBLEHEAD BEATDOWN, BASKETBALL BROTHER and SOCCER SIDEKICKS -- for kids who love sports but don't love reading. He wants to spark that love of reading in youngsters, particularly those who are struggling to find the right book.

Bo Rush's sports books honor and celebrate diversity and inclusion. They also highlight important character traits, such as honesty, perseverance, courage, and empathy.
