Living "the quiet life" in rural Tennessee, Gail told stories to friends, relatives, nieces, nephews, and anyone else who would listen. When her own children were born, the story telling continued. The storytelling began again when grandchildren came into the picture. These stories were not recorded in any fashion. When Izzy, the inspiration for the princess in the Greymalkin stories, began school a decision was made to capture one of the stories in print. The hope was to ensure that Izzy would remember the Greymalkin adventures when she became an adult.

Memories of leafing through beautifully illustrated fairy tale books as a child prompted a year and a half search for an illustrator who could meet Gail's fond memories of those childhood books. Greymalkin's illustrator has created captivating, imaginative characters that appeal to both children and adults.

Traditional publishing or self-publishing? Self-publishing seemed to be the best choice...after all, there was only going to be one book. It was to be one story, one book, specifically for her grandchildren. However, people liked the first book, so then there was a second book, then a third, 2 coloring books and, on a slightly different note, Kit-Kat with more books on the way.
