About the Author

Israela Meyerstein LCSW-C, has been helping families, couples, and individuals for over forty years, with a variety of problems, including parenting and family relationships, couple issues, coping with separation, divorce, and remarriage, medical illness, fetal loss, spirituality and healthy personal coping. She has trained hundreds of professionals of varied disciplines, and has taught Family Therapy in college and graduate level programs.

Israela's interest in spirituality led her to co-found the Baltimore Jewish Healing Network where she co-led Spiritual Study/Discussion groups for those struggling with medical illness. Ms. Meyerstein has authored thirty published articles and chapters on couples and family therapy, spirituality, medical illness, remarriage, and therapist training. She wrote “Bridge to Healing: Finding Strength to Cope with Illness” (2014) to help patients, family members, caregivers, and health care professionals.

In recent years, Israela has made trips to Israel to do pro-bono teaching and workshops in the field of social work and family therapy. Israela has been connected to Israel literally since birth, as she was named after the newborn state of Israel in 1948, and has made many trips there. Her newest book, Miracle Nation: Seventy Stories about the Spirit of Israel, emerged from a recent trip and her contacts with Israelis who have created exceptional projects based in humanistic values to improve lives in Israel and around the world.
