Marsell Morris

Marsell Morris was born and still lives in the Detroit, Michigan, area.

While twice married, and with three children, he is, again, engaged to take the plunge while thinking the third time has to be the charm.

After retiring from a major auto company behind attaining the position of production supervisor, Marsell took up golf, and while winning a local golf tournament, and setting a local course record, he managed to lower his handicap to near scratch.

With visions of joining the Senior Golf Tour, he injured himself while over practicing, and had to quit playing. Now with a abundance of time and with no way to fill it, he took up writing as a hobby. He had always had writing in the back of his mind, but having failed at an attempt to write a science fiction tale at the tender age of twelve or so, and not being able to get past the first chapter during that attempt, he never attempted to write again. What he didn’t know back then, but now knows, was that he didn’t have enough life experience to create believable characters and situations.

Now, later in life, he tried writing again, and to his surprise, he had a knack for spinning a yarn. He chose urban fiction as his genera and began writing as a hobby. That hobby turned into a professional career, and while quickly becoming addicted to writing, he pounded out eleven urban fiction novels without difficulty. Unfortunately, he couldn’t procure publishing contracts for most of his urban fiction works with the rejections being based on the fact that, although, his stories and characters were based on true to life people and situations, he refused to use profanity, and therefore, they lacked authenticity. He didn’t care — he self published. He was not, and will not, compromise his standards for the sake of becoming traditionally published.

Having always been a science fiction fan, Marsell decided to switch his focus to his first love. His first attempt “Alien Plot - First Contact” was accepted by the first publisher he queried, and because the plot was original, it was speculated it could be produced as a movie.

Now inspired, and with his writing addiction intensifying, and with no vision of ever stopping, he continued on to complete six more science fiction stories. As you read this, he is probably at his third keyboard replacement, doing what he enjoys—creating unique but believable stories with interesting characters.

While insisting on developing previously unexplored plot lines, he feels his science fiction stories will, at some time in the future, become recognized for their originality.
