Michael Gunter

Michael Gunter is an ecologist by training, a cosmologist by aspiration, and as a result of this book, may be one of the first cosmic ecologists. Gunter spent a decade as an environmental consultant in the energy industry in Houston after a Master's Degree and studying and performing ecological research at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute. He also has an BS in Biology from the University of Kansas, where systematics and ecology were his specialties.

Gunter had a second career in Austin, Texas where he helped to pioneer the Internet services industry and produced custom database applications for an explosion of budding web-based entrepreneurs.

Throughout his various careers, Gunter has been slowly cooking up a novel way to think about the levels of organization in the universe. His quest has resulted in a set of theories that may join ecology and physics at the hip.

In the Levolution Series he ranges well outside of biology to generalize the more basic and fundamental laws of energy and order, and then uses that as a lens through which to see the cosmos. Insisting that it is a developing, single thing, Gunter shows us a universe based on a single pattern or form, and explains that Thermodynamic Natural Selection is here to enforce conformance. Gunter reveals here his insights, born of a long mission to understand energy at its deepest and most profound levels.
