Charles A Lewis

Prior to attending medical school, Lewis served as a volunteer in the U.S. Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic. His work included the teaching nutrition and hygiene to elementary school teachers in the southwest region of the Dominican Republic, as well as leading sanitation, health and agricultural promotion projects.

After residency training in General, Preventive Medicine, and Public Health and postgraduate research in nutritional epidemiology, he worked as a country doctor in rural areas for many years. As he was often as the only doctor in town, he made house calls and treated any disease or injury that came through the door. He often took payment in the form of fresh caught fish or baked goods.

For over a decade Dr. Lewis served as the medical director and product designer for a medical device company were he helped develop patented respiratory care devices.

Dr. Lewis remains active in writing and academic medical research including the design of clinical trials.
