Nicole Jon Sievers, MSW, LCSW, is dedicated to advocacy and passionate about promoting social
justice. For over 25 years, she has worked with youth and the systems serving them. She is celebrated for
inspiring adolescents to summon courage, humility, and resilience. Her diverse roles have included counselor,
certified Imago relationship therapist, school teacher, educational district consultant, Outward
Bound instructor, and forensic consultant.
Recognizing that peer-to-peer incentives are an unusually potent means of diminishing bullying behavior, Nicole founded the Stand for Courage Foundation (www.standforcourage.org) in 2011. In 2014, the American Psychological Association honored the Foundation with a Visionary Award Grant that will support further research of program efficacy.
As a result of her extensive training, diverse experience, and unique vision, Nicole has consulted, taught, and been a guest speaker on the public stage; her radio and television guest appearances have been aired locally and nationally. Nicole also has contributed to many publications including books, magazines, and newspapers. It’s Your Mind: Own It! is her first book.
Nicole is frequently invited to participate in various organizations. One role of which she is particularly excited is as a Seattle Music Commissioner (www.cityofmusic.com/music-commission). As a member of the Music Commission, she joins a diverse group of community, business, and industry leaders who guide Seattle’s efforts to support, promote,
expand, and encourage Seattle’s vibrant music culture.
Nicole, her husband Eric, and their five sons live in Seattle.
