I have spent about half my life organizing events where singles can meet other singles (Attention widows: you are now a single person). I wrote a syndicated "singles" newspaper column for 14 years, organized and promoted over 1,400 singles events (tennis, golf, bridge, cocktail parties, dances, cruises, happy hours, etc., attended by over 450,000 single people over the years. The very few times that there was a small admission charge, 100% of the proceeds went to a very needy local charity.
I also participated in 159 talk shows around the USA on radio and TV call-in programs so I have had plenty of nationwide experience talking with lonely widows and answering their mail. I also wrote five books about singles. I use some material in "Widow" from my best seller "Single Again: Dating and Meeting New Friends the Second Time Around", and another of my popular books "Married Again: Making the Right Decision the Next Time".
Though my main goal is to help widows and newly divorced singles overcome loneliness, I have incidentally caused hundreds of singles to meet a new soul-mate and get re-married, successfully I might add.
