Donald William Drury is a retired educator who has been researching his ancestry in Maryland, Kentucky and Missouri for the past eighteen years. He is continuing the work of his parents who gathered primary data by corresponding with living relatives over the previous thirty years.
Born and raised in St. Louis County, Missouri, Donald received a full Naval ROTC scholarship to Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois after graduating from High School in 1949. In 1953 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies. After serving three years in the United States Navy as a Lt(jg) during the Korean War he settled in Columbus, Ohio where he attended Ohio State University Graduate School and Ohio University becoming certified as a teacher. He has authored books on Ballroom Dancing and Elementary Computer programming as well as Genealogical works.
His two previous volumes published by Colonial Roots were "The Drury Family of Maryland and Descendants in Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois and Missouri" and "The Brewer Family of Maryland and descendants in Kentucky and Missouri." Coming soon will be a third volume titled "French Families in the Mississippi Valley." He now lives in Columbus, Ohio with Barbara, his wife of forty seven years.
