Jim Brennan

Jim Brennan was a paperboy, car wash grunt, street-corner vendor, stock boy at a beer distributor, Teamster and a shipyard welder--all before his eighteenth birthday. Today he writes a stone’s throw from Wissahickon Park in Philadelphia. Jim's stories have appeared in Every Day Fiction, Prime Number Magazine, Schuylkill Valley Journal, Neshaminy Literary Journal, American Journal of Poetry, and countless other print and online publications.

Once A Welder, a conspiracy thriller set at a shipyard on the Philadelphia waterfront, is Jim's first novel published in April 2023 with Freeze Time Media. His memoir Twenty-Four Years to Boston was published with St. Johann Press in 2013.

Jim is currently shopping a manuscript for his second novel, a mystery-thriller about a warehouseman who discovers his parents had been killed in a home explosion when he was an infant, a blast in which he was the sole survivor. The discovery causes him to research his heritage, a journey that takes him from South Philadelphia to Hell's Kitchen where he learns about a fight his father was in as a teenager that caused him to become a target of the Irish Mob.
