Your personal safety and the safety & security of your family needs to be a top priority.

Threats from the digital world can come in the form of ransomware, viruses, phishing emails and identity thieves. Threats in the physical world can come from sexual predators, terrorists and active shooters. No where is "safe" and you must take proactive steps to protect your online presence and your offline physical safety. As a parent, protecting your children and keeping them safe begins from Day 1 and never stops - even when they go off to college or move out on their own.

I have made it my mission to keep people safe from all types of online and offline threats to their personal safety through my unique blend of expertise in safety and security.

Not everyone can become an expert in martial arts, public safety or computer security. However, through my experience in all three areas, I am able to impart simple, actionable steps that anyone can use to immediately improve their safety in both the digital world and the physical world. These three areas are:

1. Martial Arts / Self-Defense Instructor (20+ yrs)

2. Information Technology Security Consultant (20+ yrs)

3. Public Safety Officer and Event Security Professional (3+ yrs)

1. Martial Arts / Self-Defense Instructor

I have trained in the martial arts and taught self-defense for over 20 years, achieving my Master rank in both TaeKwonDo and Hapkido in 2011. I have trained thousands of men, women and children how to protect themselves from physical threats as well as build their confidence, fortitude and self-esteem. My books on self-defense (The Self-Defense Survival Guide) and college safety (The Ultimate Guide to College Safety) contain vital information about how to achieve the "warrior mindset" so that you are able to persist and survive any threat to your safety. This training will assist you in overcoming any obstacles that stand in your way for the rest of your life – personal or professional.

Learning how to effectively defend yourself is essential, and the myth that it needs to take years of training is simply not true. Self-defense can be learned by anyone with the desire in a lot less time than people realize. My first book, "The Self-Defense Survival Guide" contains over 200 high-quality pictures along with detailed descriptions and is a great place to start for anyone who wishes to learn more. It is a great place to begin your education on physical self-defense. The book has a companion website, http://LearnSelfDefenseOnline.com that contains videos of many of the techniques in the book, so you can watch the techniques in the book being done.

2. Information Technology Consultant

Since 1995 I have run my own information technology company, PJC Services and have actually done that which I train and write about. I am not just an academic; I live computer security on a daily basis in my IT business and keep my clients' systems, networks, servers, email, accounts and web sites secure from digital threats. Many of these best practices are explained in my writing in an easy-to-understand format that can be followed by anyone in order to secure their own technology, identity and financial accounts.

3. Public Safety Professional

Through my work as a university public safety officer, I have seen what threats exist to today's college students from the inside. Alcohol problems, party and date rape drugs, sexual assaults, prescription medication abuse, caffeine and energy drinks, dorm room security, cooking and electrical safety, and more are all covered in "The Ultimate Guide to College Safety." There are even sections on how to deal with problem roommates, hygiene and health, and maintaining the proper attitude.

I also worked concert & event security for acts including music icons Alice Cooper & David Byrne (Talking Heads), comedians Jerry Seinfeld, Ron White & Jim Breuer, and magician Chris Angel among others.

I have received various awards from different organizations that I have been involved with over the years and I am a "Paul Harris Fellow" with Rotary International and past President of my local Rotary club. I am also the President of the North American Hapkido TaeKwonDo Federation and President of Campus Safety University, an online virtual university containing information, courses and products related to staying safe at college and around campus. I enjoy giving back, since that is what stands the test of time. I live in Northeast Pennsylvania with my wife, Susan and our 3 sons.
