Mr. Conrad lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is a retired college Economics instructor who enjoys writing of all types. He has published an incredibly imaginative children's fantasy novel for preteens (“Subtuberania”), a biography of a professional Christian gospel singer, coach, and businessman (“Ted Conrad: Through It All”), a heart-thumping sci-fi novel about two American astronauts on the planet Venus (“Trapped On Venus”), and has written many short stories, plays, tv episodes, non-fiction economic and political articles, and is currently applying himself to freelance writing assignments while working on several longer writing projects of his own.
Mr. Conrad's interests are: reading, writing, and thinking. As he says: "A simple pleasure for me is creating a masterful sentence with a pungent metaphor that captures exactly the thought I'm thinking; like warm hollandaise sauce over fresh asparagus.
I'm an Economist by training and education, a liberal by preference, a senior citizen by age, a writer by commitment, a political junkie by inclination, and a pop culture observer by personal fascination. My interests are extensive which makes my possible contributions flexible, varied, and capable of adding a lot of individual experience, and the addition of humor to my writing often makes the medicine of a tough or challenging article go down a little easier.
I'm loaded with opinions but tempered by the understanding that not everyone shares them. I am a strong contributor where well-reasoned, educated, insightful, argumentative articles are preferred, although I'm as capable of bouncing off the padded walls of a cell when discussing ultra-conservative commentators or pompous movie and tv stars as the next yokel.
