Eugene Carr

Personal/Professional: Eugene Carr was born in the northwest Chicago area in 1940. He lived there until 1961, when he joined the U. S. Air Force. His primary assignment was to teach enlisted airman to repair aircraft flight instruments. After leaving the U. S. Air Force in 1965, he returned to college at Northern Illinois University, earning a B.S. in Mathematics and Comprehensive Sciences. He married his wife before leaving the U. S. Air Force and they had two daughters. The commercial computer industry was just beginning in the early 1960s and he entered the ground floor as a programmer/systems analyst. As the industry grew, so did his expertise in the field, and he alternated being a consultant for small commercial enterprises in the use of computer systems, and developing his own company which wrote computer software for growing businesses. As the industry moved to larger and faster computers, he became involved with Apple Computer when his company developed the first small business accounting system for their personal computers. The industry was in continuous flux and he remained on the leading edge of the technology becoming the president of several companies. The family moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1969 where they remained until his retirement. It was during the period that he lived in the Boulder/Denver area that he became a Commercial Pilot with an Instrument Rating. He retired in 1995 and remained active, traveling throughout the United States, Europe, and northern Africa. While traveling, he took pen in hand and began writing short stories and articles to amuse his friends back home. On a trip to Germany in 2009, he wrote his first large work, three novels, which are to be read as one story. He is now writing novellas, taken from his experiences in life which he feels are entertaining, informative, and take the reader to places that they may not want to go. He has a residence in Colorado, but winters with his wife in Arizona.
