Patricia Smith

Patricia Smith is a certified Compassion Fatigue Specialist with 20 years of training experience. As founder of the Compassion Fatigue Awareness Project (www.compassionfatigue.org), she writes, speaks and facilities workshops nationwide in service of those who care for others. Her writing has appeared in numerous publications, including 20 years of correspondent work for the San Jose Mercury News. She is the recipient of the Excellence in Writing Award, presented by the National League of American Pen Women and her book, "To Weep for a Stranger: Compassion Fatigue in Caregiving" was awarded the Pinnacle Book Award from the American Independent Booksellers Association. In 2012, Patricia was named a Whiteley Scholar at the Helen R.Whiteley Center at the University of Washington.
