Elizabeth T. Gershoff

Elizabeth Gershoff, PhD, is the Amy Johnson McLaughlin Professor of Human Development and Family Sciences and Director of the Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Gershoff is an internationally recognized expert on the effects of physical punishment on children and on the impacts of family, school, neighborhood, and policy contexts on children. Her research has been funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation. She teaches courses on child development, children and public policy, and contexts of development.
