Look toward the dark side of human behavior and you’ll find the characters that populate DeeAnn’s stories floundering in life struggles. Her first completed novel is the tale of a young girl’s survival in backwoods Tennessee during prohibition. Her short stories range from speculative science fiction to thought-provoking pieces on contemporary issues. Some contemplate justifiable homicide. Others explore sexuality or paint landscapes of superstition and oppression.

With a stack of ideas waiting to see light of day, DeeAnn looks for every opportunity to put her thoughts on paper. She finds inspiration all around: in daily life, BBC News, books, movies and dreams. If an idea strikes her in the middle of the night, she turns on a light, grabs her bedside journal and captures the moment.

A self-proclaimed glass half-empty girl, DeeAnn loves travel, theatre and concerts, fine dining and all things Southern. She’s had a passion for writing since childhood and dreams of writing full time. She currently works, writes and resides in Washington State with her author husband and three children.
