William A. Mirola (1963-) is Professor of Sociology and President of the Faculty at Marian University in Indianapolis, IN. He completed his BA at Houghton College in New York and his Masters and Ph.D. in Sociology at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. His research and teaching interests center on social class inequality, education, religion, and social movement activism. In addition to authoring Redeeming Time, he is co-editor of Religion Matters: What Sociology Teaches Us about Religion in our World, (Allyn and Bacon), Religion and Class in America: Culture, History, and Politics, (Brill Publishing) and Sociology of Religion: A Reader (Allyn and Bacon). His research also has published in Sociology of Religion, Social Problems, and Social Science History. In addition to his professional work, Dr. Mirola is an avid horseman, riding with the Traders Point Hunt. He enjoys fine food and wine, collecting English antiques, watching British comedy on BBC American, traveling, and listening to punk rock.
