About the Author

From what I've been told, I was a very independent baby, determined to change my own diapers, going to bed early and rising in the wee hours of the morning to play alone while my siblings slept on. I used my dolls as characters in made up stories in those wee hours. Later, I would create plays from those stories. My first play was produced in junior high school.

For many years I would rise at approximately 3:00a.m.- 4:00a.m. when the universe was in sync and pregnant with creativity. I would work and then get a few more hours of sleep before rising to prepare for work and get my daughter off to school. That regimented schedule and perseverance went on for years but resulted in an immense repertoire of work, representing all literary genres...novels, fiction, non-fiction, stories, drama, screenplays, poetry, mystery, urban novels, stoetry, children's lit, performance stories, sci-fi, skits, teens lit, fantasy, essays...

I believe in creating memorable, passionate and complex literature with flawed characters; plots readers can identify with, and last but not least, leaving the reader with new perspectives and a deeper sense of self.

Subjects Included in my repertoire are historical/fictitious works, socio-cultural, African American, women's concerns, comedy, intense provocative literature and works that uplift, empower, and help steer youth toward greatness. I became a visual artist when I illustrated a children's book a few years ago. Since that time, I have been illustrating my own books. I have been given a 'thumbs up' for my illustrations and I am honored.

I have earned a B.A. in Dramatic arts. I am also a storyteller, actress, vocalist, lightweight guitarist, and have a few other talents tucked aside. I enjoy holding high-energy book signings that include storytelling, acting, singing, poetry and music and audience participation. I currently offer 'You Are Unique,' a storytelling session that inspires youth to love themselves and assert their greatness. In addition i perform 95% original poems, skits, play, songs, etc. for adults and children.
