Carrie Talbott

Carrie is originally from the redwood forest of Northern California, where Pete and His Gigantic Feet is set. But after marrying and living in Temecula, CA for eleven years, she and her husband left their secure job and comfortable lifestyle and moved to Baja, Mexico to start a non-profit ministry. Twelve years later they had to leave their tiny, dirt-road, horse-town, and move back to the States.

Just like Carrie's main character, Pete, her blonde boys both have large feet and have felt the effects of bullying. They were easy to spot on the playgrounds in Baja, are fluent in Spanish, and love mud season. Family days at the beach consisted of surfing, boogie boarding, eating mangoes on a stick, and convincing the vendors they weren't fresh off the cruise ship. And that they didn't want to buy jewelry. Or sunglasses. Or hats.

Between hanging laundry and scooping avocados, Carrie's writing new stories in her head and on her blog.

"I love rhyme," says Carrie, "and probably would have forked over a pile of pesos to study under Dr. Seuss."

In addition to Pete and His Gigantic Feet, she has written stories for Just Between Us magazine and Focus on the Family's Clubhouse magazine, with more on the way.

She blogs weekly about the hope and humor in life at carrie@carrietalbottink.com/blog
