Dawn Wentz Bailey

Dawn Wentz Bailey was born in Camden, New Jersey and raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Bailey remembers receiving a signed copy of "Lassie Come Home," from Mrs. Eric Knight while she was on a girl scout outing in 1975. Bucks County brought forth authors such as Eric Knight, James A. Michener and Pearl S. Buck.

Bailey majored in art while she attended Quakertown Community High School and enjoyed drawing and writing poetry. She also attended business school in Bucks County which led her into a secretarial career. She worked for the school system and later became a clerk for the United States Postal Service from 1989 until 1991.

She married in 1993 and remembers writing "at home" children's books for her two children as a stay at home mom. "I remember telling everyone that it would be wonderful to publish a children's book of my own."

Bailey moved to Tennessee with her husband and children in 1997 where she became a full time reporter for The Expositor. She had many stories and photos published in The Expositor and several late breaking news articles also published in The Herald Citizen, Overton County News, Livingston Enterprise and the Middle Tennessee Times.

She created and published a small newsletter, "The White County Free Press," for about 2 years.

She was a foster parent from 2003 until 2005 and remembers hearing positive feedback on the accomplishments of the child in her care.

Her grandson was born in 2005 and she has been inspiring him to learn to read. Bailey shares her children's books with him as they are being created, which in turn gives him an opportunity to have interest and input. Her grandson previously asked that two of his dogs be characters in a book, thus inspiring, Hog On A Log. Bailey believes that her children's books are entertaining and will help build the confidence of a beginning reader.

On July 2nd of 2013, Bailey branched out in a new direction and announced her newest book, "The Majesty Of Love," filled with inspirational quotes and photography. Bailey hopes her readers will learn the importance of love in their lives and encourages them to take a look at the world around them.

Bailey's is continuing to successfully publish her children's books with an Amazon Best Sellers rank of #12, on June 30, 2015, kindle edition of "Does Mr. Whale Have A Tail?"

Bailey has recently relocated to the Raleigh area and is looking forward to working with and meeting other local authors. She has joined the Garner Writers Guild and is branching out once again, this time into the world of science fiction.
