Shawn Casey O'Brien

Shawn Casey O'Brien (1956) - political strategist, disabled activist, saloon singer and poet.

Founder of the seminal LA punk band 'The Cripples' and 'the musical voice of the murderer' on the Jack Nitzsche produced soundtrack of the 1980's most controversial film, 'Cruising.'

Prime mover and shaker behind The Unique People's Voter Project, (UP) which was instrumental in registering over 100,000 disabled voters in California in the 90's. The true pathos of that effort is the grist of his new book: For The Love Of Long Shots - a memoir on democracy.

Controversial and outspoken, Shawn Casey O'Brien spent 12 years as the Co-Host/Co-Producer of LA radio station KPFK's 'Access Unlimited', the disability awareness show "for people born in the know - or those that arrive there accidentally."

He is a home brewer of award winning beers and premium dry meads.
