Ann J. Temkin lives in Atlanta with her husband, but she was born in Baltimore, starting life in a multi-cultural world. Both parents were immigrants, but from very different countries. Her Jewish father was born in Russia and raised in Germany, while her mother was English and the daughter of a lay Methodist preacher. This varied background and her sense of belonging to multiple cultures has given her a boundless interest in what life is like for different people. A mystical experience as a young adult drew her into a long and complex spiritual journey.
Temkin never gets tired of observing and listening to people. For over three decades she worked as a licensed psychotherapist and then as an ordained minister. Three step children and four grandchildren as well as friends in various places keep her on the move. She also loves to hike and is a trained pianist and a member of The Trey Clegg Singers, a multicultural choral group performing works from different nations and centuries in a variety of languages and styles. So not all Ann's time is given to writing, leading retreats, creating new liturgies and spiritual direction. She is a passionate person who loves questions and questioners. At age 81 she looks forward to the next phase of her journey and to discovering more of God - who is always greater than we can possibly imagine.
