daishin stephenson

daishin stephenson is a photographer, video artist, painter, poet, gardener and Zen Buddhist monk. A native of Arizona, she grew food in the Sonoran Desert for 24 years. Or, as she maintains, “I don’t grow food — I help food to grow.” She has lived in various cities, and now makes her home in the Pacific Northwest.


All of her work — Zen teaching, visual art, gardening and writing — reflects her commitment to work with her environment, wherever she is, exploring deep ecology in the heart of the city, and closing the gap between common dualistic ideas of what is “nature” and what is not.
