"It always seems impossible until it's done" - Nelson Mandela
It is so true of writing a book and in other realms of life. Mark believes in pushing ahead in the face of temptations to quit. It has certainly worked in his life!
Mark Herbkersman was born in 1959 and lived the average life until his family moved to North Idaho. He discovered the wonders of the mountains and a different viewpoint on life. He also became exposed to Louis L'Amour and a host of other western writers. This background resulted in the first of his acclaimed Henry Family Chronicles western novels, Prodigal's Blood. Revenge on the Mountain followed, with The Branding of Otis Henry soon after. Then came his massive action-packed Gideon's Redemption and his first venture into short stories, Christmas Train. Now Mark has ventured into a new realm with Saving Winston Corner, filled with mystery, uproarious humor, romance and the delights and strange characters found in all small town living.
Attending Boise State University, Mark traveled across the country, spent a couple years in Kansas City, then headed east to Boston. Stopping to visit relatives in Indy, he met this cute Hoosier farm girl and, for some strange reason, never made it to Boston! They have lived in east central Indiana ever since, raising their family in a little oasis in the woods.
Life is quite a journey!
Mark's journey has taken him through college and grad school, with degrees in History and Counseling Psychology. He has worked in the court system in various roles, been an adjunct college instructor and seminar presenter. He is an ordained pastor and currently resides in Indiana, working as a hospice chaplain. His writing is inspired by a lifetime of eclectic reading habits and by Zig Ziglar, who said, "Most men go to their graves with their dreams still inside them." He is determined not to be one of those who talk about it but never get it done!
With his popularity increasing, Mark invites you to join him in the adventure.
