Judith Waldrop

JUDITH WALDROP is the author of over 200 articles and the winner of six journalism awards. Her first book The Seasons of Business was published in 1992. In 2014, she published a cookbook based on the most memorable meals of her lifetime: Swapping Recipes with Friends: Effortless Recipes and Memorable Meals. Her most recent cookbook, Pecos Bill and the Legend of Texas Eats, was inspired by the 10 years she lived in the Lone Star State.

The things Judy counts among her greatest accomplishments are serving Thanksgiving dinner for 50 when she was only 20 years old and providing an impromptu paella dinner for six when her sailboat was becalmed in Matagorda Bay, Texas. Even more important than those accomplishments were her 34-year marriage to Melvin "Wally" Waldrop, bringing up her beautiful and multitalented daughter Lindsay, and becoming a grandmother.

Judy attended Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) and the University of Texas at Austin before receiving a bachelor's Degree from Auburn University at Montgomery and a master's degree from Florida Atlantic University. She has worked as a cartographic technician, a city planner, an editor, and a demographic analyst. Widowed in 2009, Judy is currently retired and lives in Maryland with her friend Stu, Teddy the dachshund, and Abigail the cat.
