Jeff Beedy

Jeff Beedy has a long history playing, coaching and researching sports. While in college, Jeff pitched in the Cape Cod Baseball League and was ranked nationally as junior college quarterback. Jeff later skied in the freestyle tour. After a successful career in coaching skiing in New England, Jeff entered Harvard University. Jeff studied with world-renowned psychologists Lawrence Kohlberg, Carol Gilligan, Robert Selman and Sesame Street Founder Gerald Lesser. Jeff’s doctoral research focused on how children understand the interpersonal world of sports. Jeff taught at Harvard for Pulitzer Prize winner Dr. Robert Coles. In 2006, along with Harvard and Vail Jeff co-founded the PLUS Conference where the concept of sport-based youth development was originated. Jeff’s Positive Learning Using Sports program is used around the world including Cyprus, China, South Korea, Viet Nam, Cambodia, and Greece and throughout the United States and Canada. As the founding head of the first boarding school in the Global education City Jeju, South Korea, Jeff introduced to PLUS to Korea International School. Jeff is currently working on a new book called The Other Classroom: Reframing Children’s Sports to Teach Leadership.
