Susan H. Gray is the author of more than 150 reference books for children and young adults. She has an M.S. in Zoology with a specialty in vertebrate embryology, but her work experience is all over the map. She has done research on freshwater plankton, has taught animation classes, worked as a technical writer, been a scientific illustrator, wrote grant proposals for a medical school, and taught anatomy & physiology to pre-nursing students. Because Susan's either unable or unwilling to work a 9-to-5 job, she's been a freelance writer since 2000, mostly writing grant proposals and all those reference books. Susan is happily married to Michael Gray and they live in Cabot, Arkansas, with a handful of rescued cats.
