Hello and welcome to my Author’s Page.

I write because I like telling stories without being interrupted. And I can make one-sided conversations go wherever I want and stop whenever I want. Writing is necessary me-time because nowadays I spend so much time being an active listener to others so I can get their point of view and learn from their experiences. This reminds me of one thing my grandmother use to say; she said, “Grandson, you will not live long enough to make all the mistakes there are to make in life, so learn from the mistakes of others.” I do this my listening to what anyone wants to share with me.

I also write because I feel like a funnel in that so many people pour into me so much knowledge, understanding, and wisdom, that I can’t bottle all this stuff inside, so I must share what I’ve learned. In addition to sharing tips and tools and tactics on a one-on-one basis or in small groups, I hope that the books and materials that are listed in my author’s page can reach a larger audience and that the world can glean something from the world I have been living in for decades.

In 1993, I began volunteering for a Job Information Center in our community as one of the counselors to help those transitioning from unemployment or underemployment, to successfully finding a job, career, or other business opportunity. I had been a participant when I was in job transition after college, so I understood the value of these types of services can bring.

I thought that I was simply giving back to my community, but through the years the Job Information Center experience helped me to understand that the only way to become valuable is to add value to others. The books and materials that you see in this author’s page is a direct result of me learning from the very same people I have coached, counseled, and cheered on for decades.

What was also valuable to me was meeting like-minded people during my travels, and then joining with them to develop our GUDEJob website where we share a common passion to help folks experience on the job success by helping them move from their Point A to their Point B in life. Now, all the updates in every book is from the viewpoint of a business side (Carlton), a how-to side (Ed), and a teaching-learning side (Gwyn) of things. I guess that I feel fortunate enough to share what I learn from so many smart, funny, exciting, dedicated, and genuine people.
