John Neely Davis (1938-) was born in the drafty front bedroom of a farmhouse in Chesterfield, TN. Long before it became popular, he dropped out of college - candidly, he was asked to leave due to less than satisfactory grades, poor attendance and other unjust reasons. A director of neighborhood theater, amateur actor and former book reviewer for the Amarillo Globe News, he has published two novels and a series of western short stories.
His most recent book, Bear Shadow, won the 2014 Janice Keck Literary Award for fiction.
He lives in historic Franklin, TN, with Jayne, his wife of fifty-seven years.
