Thomas L. Higgins MD

Tom Higgins is a critical care physician and also Chief Medical Officer at The Center for Case Management in Natick, MA. He is Professor of Medicine and Anesthesiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School-Baystate in Springfield, MA. Dr. Higgins is a health care leader who remains involved in patient care and conducting critical care and population health research. Dr. Higgins has co-authored two textbooks of critical care as well as pictorial histories of Baystate Medical Center and Baystate Franklin Medical Center. An upcoming "Images of America" book on his hometown of Longmeadow, Massachusetts will be published by Arcadia in 2018. He has over 150 publications in medical journals, including the widely-used Mortality Probability Model (MPM-III) for benchmarking critical care outcomes. Tom also volunteers with Himalayan Health Exchange, an organization providing health care to isolated high-altitude communities in the Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh provinces of India.
