I was born in Glasgow in 1956 and was introduced to my local library by my father as soon as I could walk. There I developed a life-long passion for books and writing, particularly the fantasy of C.S. Lewis, Alan Garner and J.R.R. Tolkien. In later life I studied History and Russian literature at Edinburgh University, before embarking on a 34 year career as a history teacher. Now retired, I at last have the time to devote to writing my first books,a trilogy entitled 'The Grey Skin of Soules.' The first volume, 'The Rowan Seer' is currently available on Kindle, while the second ('The Old North') is undergoing a final edit and will be published shortly. These are high fantasy, heavily influenced both by my study of Scottish Dark Age history and by my family background (western isle Gael on my mother's side; Viking on my father's). They are filled with mist, mountain, sea and menace and are infused with the gentle humour and elegaic sadness that is never too far from the true gael's heart...
