Michael J. Lowis

Do you like books, whether they be fiction or non-fiction, which are meticulously researched? After many years as an academic, Michael J. Lowis now writes for general readers who enjoy thinking about some of the deeper issues of life.

His short memoir 'The Day the Pope Saved my life' was short-listed for the Fish Publishing 2020 Short Memoir Prize.

His his ten books to date embrace a range of genres. The first, 'The Gospel Miracles: What Really Happened?' is an honest attempt to understand these events, not deny them.

The current debate on the right of a person to end their life inspired the writing of 'Euthanasia, Suicide, and Despair: Can the Bible help?' Despite its title, this is not a morbid or depressing discussion, but one that conveys a positive message. 'Ageing Disgracefully, With Grace,' and 'What do we know about God?' are Mike’s other titles with a theological element.

His memoir, 'Twenty Years in South Africa – An Immigrants Tale', is a true account of a family relocating to a land that was undergoing a period of profound change. Two volumes of anecdotes, discussions and memoirs on a variety of thoughtful topics followed: 'From the Pope to Pigeons; From Dreams to Heaven,' (which includes the short-listed memoir) and 'What’s it All About Then?'

Mike then added two historical novels: 'Reincarnation', and 'He Came From Another Universe', both seeking to explain mysteries that took place several thousand years ago.

His final work to date is a collaborative effort with another writer. Together they pooled their collections of short stories to publish 'Two Mikes and their 39 stories.' Something for everyone there.
