Frank Garrett

Frank Garrett is a Dallas-based independent philosopher, writer, and translator.

He holds a PhD in philosophy and literary theory. He trained as a translator at the Center for Translation Studies (University of Texas at Dallas) and at Philipps-Universität Marburg after earning advanced certification in Polish philology from the Catholic University of Lublin. In 2001 he was a Fulbright scholar in Warsaw; in 2000 he was a FLAS scholar in L'viv, Ukraine. As an independent philosopher and translator, his work has been published most recently by Black Sun Lit, Duquesne UP, Spurl Editions, and Zeta Books, while his critical reportage has appeared in 3:AM Magazine and Transitions Online.

His philosophical education includes a background in 19th-, 20th-, and 21st-century Continental philosophy (phenomenology, hermeneutics, and deconstruction) with areas of competence in modern Jewish philosophy, literary and aesthetic theory, and translation theory.

His international experience includes two years in Japan and more than two years in Central Europe, primarily Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Ukraine. He has more than 25 years of experience conducting research on Central Europe.
