Ken Kuang

Ken Kuang’s beginnings couldn’t have been more modest. Born in rural China to a family of five children, Ken’s first business experience was selling the fish his father caught to passersby on the roadside. Ken believed in the promise of America—that family connections and money weren’t necessary to become a success if you were willing to work hard. He came to the USA as a Visiting Scholar to Clarkson University in 1994. His engineering acumen was matched by his entrepreneurial drive and, after his first startup stuttered, he began the business for which he won 2013 Tibbetts Award, presented to him at the White House, in which his company Torrey Hills Technologies was cited for Excellence in Small Business Innovation Research.
