David Stoddard

David Stoddard is a graphic designer and professor of graphic and media design. With over 25 years experience as a designer, he has produced several book covers, poster and illustrations for magazines relating to popular culture and comics, including the cover for the first edition of The Power of Comics, and the 20th anniversary Comics Art Conference poster in the Comic-Con souvenir annual. As a fine artist he has had work in juried exhibitions from coast to coast. As an academic he has presented papers and participated in discussion panels on comics and pop culture at conferences such as Comic-Con San Diego, Wissenschaftstagung der Gesellschaft für Comicforschung (ComFor) Passau Germany, The College Media Association conference in New York, as well as conferences on mass media and art in Athens Greece, Nashville and Mobile. He currently teaches in the Digital Art and Design and Innovative Media Programs at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where he lives with his wife, three rescued dogs and a cat named Java. He plays guitar and sings in the band Blind Opie, makes art, builds guitars and showers, and rebuilds old tube amps while trying to stay out of trouble.
