Timothy Johnston

Timothy Johnston is a native of Old Mines, Missouri, where a love for music and the liturgy was nourished by his family and the parish community of St. Joachim. After completing a degree in music education at Quincy University, where he also served as Director of the Office of Worship and Prayer, Timothy spent three years as a Canon of the Order of Prémontré (Norbertines) in De Pere, Wisconsin. While there, he worked closely with the Diocese of Green Bay Office of Liturgy, training liturgical ministers and giving workshops on liturgical theology. During and after his time in religious life, Timothy spent three years teaching religion. As a high school religion teacher, Timothy served as a campus minister, coordinating the student liturgy committee and the student liturgical choir. In 2008, he completed an MA in Liturgical Studies at Saint John’s University, Collegeville, Minnesota. After this, Timothy served as the Director of the Office of Liturgy for the Diocese of Salt Lake City, which also entailed service on the board of directors for the Southwest Liturgical Conference. From August 2011 to June 2015, Timothy served as the Director of Liturgical Programs at Marquette University. Then from July 2015 to January 2018, Timothy served as the Director of the Office of Worship in St. Cloud, MN. Currently, Timothy ministers in the Archdiocese of Chicago as an editor and liturgical training consultant at Liturgy Training Publications. He also serves and part-time director of liturgy and music at Immaculate Conception Church.
